Clubhouse Records Newsletter #53

Posted 6 years ago by Tristan

Good afternoon,

Hope you are keeping well and looking after each other…

Clubhouse is 10! Spotify Playlist

Hatched over a bottle of red wine at a late-night jam over a decade ago, Clubhouse Records was a seed of an idea for a collective, supportive, musical project that's grown and endured far longer than we could have imagined. It's been tremendous fun and we've made lifelong friends along the way!

We had been working on a whole raft of ideas for 10th Birthday celebrations including a big get together at our Ramblin' Roots Revue, which has been sadly but unavoidably postponed. In the meantime, while hatching alternative plans with my brother Danny, our father Gary and long-term collaborator Del Day, we got to talking about all the fantastic music we'd released over the years and trying to pick our personal favourite tunes.

Well that proved nearly impossible, so we eventually decided on ten each and put this playlist together, introducing people to Clubhouse and hopefully providing a little something to take your minds of troubled times for an hour or so - we hope you like it!

We’re hosting a ‘Watch Party’

To celebrate the 1st Anniversary and live debut of Pete Gow's 'Here There's No Sirens' we're hosting a 'watch party' round at yours.

One year ago this week Pete Gow & The Siren Strings assembled at the Network Theatre in Kings Cross to perform Pete's debut solo album for the very first time. This stunning performance was captured in full by our cameras and presented as the concert film 'One Live One-Night Stand'.

On Friday 10th April we're inviting you press play on the You Tube video via your phone, laptop or Smart TV and join us in watching the concert together.

During the performance Pete (@petegow) will talk us through the songs, performance and recording process whilst answering your questions via Twitter.

Mark yourself as 'going' on facebook, share this event and invite friends. More details soon.

See you Friday....

Support the Good Guys…

While chatting to Del, who runs the brilliant Union Music store with partner Danny Wilson, we got into the challenges of operating a record shop at times like these and how you have to adapt, it’s not easy at the best of times! Here’s what he had to say…

‘Here at Union we’re missing the day to day life of running a physical record shop. We miss the regulars - god bless 'em - the laughs, the banter, the actual thrill of selling records in person to our customers.  However, with the wonders of modern technology we are able to very much function as a virtual store. We have an ever-expanding collection of vinyl, CD, box sets and t-shirts available via our online store at www.unionmusicstore.com/shop and a vast array of rare and collectable vinyl and CDs at our Discogs store www.discogs.com/seller/MaidenVoyageRC

We are on Facebook (@UnionMusicStore), Twitter (@UnionMusicStore) and Instagram (@UnionMusicStore) where we share records, recommend and discuss albums and artists, new and old. Please come and say hello.

We also do a playlist on Spotify every Monday at 6PM 'Union" Passing Time' where myself and Danny let you know what we have been digging' over the week’
